Special Needs

Is your child or teen on the Autism Spectrum? Is your child struggling with Executive Functioning skills or ADHD? Do you have a hard time identifying the difference between defiant behavior requiring change and behavior that must simply be accepted as part of your child's special needs? Parenting kids and teens with special needs can be challenging. Your child needs lots of help, but it can be tricky to know when to offer guidance and when to step back. I can help.

The dramatic increase in the prevalence of children identified with autism spectrum disorders and special needs has created a critical need to design and implement effective practices and behavioral supports. While I feel I may be of help with most children, I do specialize in developing and implementing behavior management plans for children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, disruptive behavior disorders, and autism spectrum disorders. With consultation services I can:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of reward and disciplinary systems to decrease defiance and opposition while increasing desired behavior.
  • Work systemically to engage all individuals who influence your childs behavior.
  • Provide general assessment for the need for additional specialized services.
  • Provide sensitivity training and instruction to secondary caregivers such as nannies, sitters, and teachers.

Please call for a free phone consultation to determine how I can be of service to you and your family, or with any questions you might have about my practice.

I serve and travel the entire Bay Area: San Francisco, East Bay, Marin, and the Peninsula. Consultation hours are by appointment.
